In 2022, Iktos launched the Robotics project which consists of a combination of Iktos de novo design technology (Makya) and retrosynthesis solution (Spaya), with automatically fed robots aiming at creating an automated synthetic laboratory.

Iktos is looking for an experienced and highly motivated synthetic organic chemist to play a crucial role in our ambition to build a fully automated AI-driven synthetic platform for drug discovery. You will be working with Iktos’ chemists in the newly completed Robotics laboratory located in the south of Paris.

The Role

  • You will help in the installation of the Iktos synthetic robot (ChemSpeed)
  • You will launch and oversee synthetic campaigns with the robot and ensure that the system works properly.
  • You will be involved in the classical syntheses of the scaffolds required for the various projects taken care of by the Robotics team.
  • You will assess the feasibility and/or optimize the reaction conditions before adapting them to the robot capabilities.
  • You will make propositions and apply corrective actions in collaboration with all stakeholders (Iktos team/consultant/CROs).
  • You will be involved in compound management aspects of the platform: ordering of chemicals, reception of building blocks, expedition of final products, etc.
  • You will contribute to HSE and identify the needs for the lab to work smoothly and in a safe environment.
  • You will analyse the purification and QC results, produce accurate final reports and experimental recording.
  • You will make presentations and be part of scientific discussions with Iktos team related to your work.
  • You will be consulted in the identification of risks/issues at the robot level and the proposition of action plans.

Profile

  • You have a Master’s or B. Sc. degree with experience (5+ years) in organic chemistry at a position with responsibilities and a proven track record of approaching and solving complex problems.
  • You have significant experience working in organic/medicinal chemistry, either in a pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO or academic drug discovery unit.
  • You are a highly motivated person who has a passion for organic chemistry and who masters all associated synthetic and analytical techniques.
  • You have an open-minded attitude towards new technologies and you like to challenge the status quo.
  • You have a high degree of organization and can handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • You have demonstrated problem solving abilities.
  • You are looking forward to working in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • You are a good listener and communicative person (even in English).
  • Having a significant experience or appetence to work with automations or robots would be a plus.
