Iktos Announces Agreement with Astellas for the use of its Synthesis-Aware Generative AI Platform
Astellas research teams will use Makya and Spaya to explore vast, synthesizable chemical space and connect molecular design directly to synthesis
Iktos, a pioneer in chemistry-driven generative AI for small-molecule drug discovery, today announced an agreement with Astellas Pharma Inc. for the use of its platforms Makya and Spaya.
Makya is synthesis-aware by design: it builds every molecule from commercial building blocks and validated reactions, so each design comes with a synthetic route. This lets researchers explore up to 10²⁷ molecules, far beyond virtual screening, while optimizing for potency, ADMET, 3D fit and novelty. Spaya complements it with AI retrosynthesis, delivering ranked routes in seconds down to purchasable building blocks.
“Most of the chemical space worth exploring has never been made,” said Yann Gaston-Mathé, CEO and co-founder of Iktos. “Our generative AI was built on real chemistry to reach novel molecules that chemists can actually synthesize. We look forward to working closely with Astellas as its teams adopt these capabilities.”
